MAN B&W Diesel, Frederikshavn designs, produces, and services complete propulsion plants for the smaller and medium-sized ship types. The plants consist of engine, propeller, gear and remote control equipment.
This ensures the yards the best possible combination of the principal components in a complete propulsion plant. The service staff's thorough knowledge of all the parts of the plant ensures the customers an all-in-one service package from a single supplier.
The propulsion plants are primarily used in fishing vessels, coasters, ferries, tankers, freighters and specialised vessels like supply ships for the offshore industry. The complete propulsion plants can be delivered either with four-stroke or small two-stroke engines.
For optimum efficiency, every propeller is tailored to the ship on which it is to be used. The propellers, which are of the controllable-pitch type, are produced in diameters up to seven metres and for engines up to 15,000 kW output. The propellers, gears and remote control equipment have been developed by MAN B&W Diesel, Frederikshavn.
The company's iron foundry produces castings, mainly for use in MAN B&W Diesel's products, but also for external customers. The foundry can produce castings weighing up to 5 tons, and a total of about 3,000 tons of castings are produced every year.
The company expanded its facilities in 1997 with an assembly hall and a testing hall covering a total of some 1300 m2. In Frederikshavn the company also has a service centre with yard facilities for engine replacements, repairs and maintenance.
